Susan asks…
What songs are there out there that have an acoustic and electric guitar parts?
Me and a friend of mine both own acoustics, and he owns an electric (I have an acoustic-electric Ibanez, he owns a telecaster and a dreadnought acoustic).
Any of you know what songs would be good to play with either combination of Acoustic/acoustic or Electric/acoustic?

Donna asks…
What songs have 2 electric guitar parts, 1 Keyboard Part, 1 Drum Part and 1 vocal part?
I am starting a band and am wondering what to play?
Please note it is a male vocalist

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:
Hi,
Songs are not normally written to be played on any particular group of instruments. That is the job of the arranger.
Any song can be arranged to use the instruments you state but there is no real need to look for arrangements that show what to play. If you are staring a new band you will have a group of friends who each will have a style and level of skill with their own instrument.
The best way forward is to sit down and choose a few songs you all agree you like, then start to arrange them between yourselves as you rehearse.
Usually the first ‘part’ to choose is the tempo of the song this will normally be provided by the drummer and/or bass guitar. This provides a good base for you to work with.
The other guitar will need to provide a rhythm and/or pick pattern to accompany the base rhythm set by the bass guitar and the drums. Once you have your chord changes sorted and your base rhythm set, you are free to experiment with whatever gives you the best aural pleasure (please note I didn’t say ‘oral’!)
There is no need to restrict your thinking by, for instance only having one vocal part…harmonies and counter melodies are an exciting and pleasurable addition to many songs, so don’t ‘bar’ these from your thoughts.
Note: with the instruments you list you have just two guitars which creates a small problem. If one of the guitars is a bass (which is pretty essential) the other has to act as both rhythm and lead…this can be done, but demands more of the player than usual. If the singer is not already playing one, why not look at getting him/her to play an additional guitar?
You may be surprised at how much flexibility that extra sound will give you.
Good luck with the bad.

Nancy asks…
What’s a great classic rock song that has bouth acoustic and electric guitar parts?
I play acoustic, my friend plays electric. We both love classic rock, and we want to play together. What are some great classic rock songs that incorporate both. Something like “Let It Bleed” by The Rolling Stones is a perfect example. THANKS!
“Stairway to Heaven” is my most hated song, next to gothic music.

Maria asks…
Are the electric guitar parts quantized in commercial songs?
First, I`m 16 years old, and I play the electric guitar for an year now.I learn by my self, no lessons. For the moment, I just like to make music and record at home. But I don`t seem to get, for example, quick palm muted verse parts (I play punk rock) right on beat all the time. This also happens on 3 note power chords (I mainly practiced 2 note power chords). So my question is – are the commercial guitar tracks quantized, or it`s just the guitarist that plays it right?I think for example of Tom DeLonge, I`m almost sure his guitar parts are quantized.I own Melodyne, but it`s quite hard to quantize rythmical guitar parts for example. So?
Thank you.
And I want an answer, not some off topic, like mister jwenting did here.3 chords, played right can make a big hit.And I didn`t say that I can`t do stuff like tapping, or pinch harmonics, solos and other things.I just miss a few notes when recording quick palm muting verses, and I wonder if the guitars get quantized in the studio. Thanks to jwenting for wasting my time.

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:
Some people can actually play the guitar rather than just aping some chord sequences without knowing what they’re doing (yes, that’s you and a million kids like you).
They know their music, they know how to play it and why it should be played like that.
They therefore can anticipate what’s going to come next and prepare for it.
They also know that playing the guitar is far more than just banging out chords.
They’ve had proper training for years rather than disdaining lessons and thinking they can become virtuosos by reading some website.

Mark asks…
What are the parts of an electric guitar and what makes a guitar good?
What should i look for in an electric guitar ive seen some very expensive electric guitars and i just dont know why they are so expensive??? can anyone please tell me why they are so expensive and what makes an electric guitar nice?

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:
If its a beginner guitar, anything. Theres no use sinking 500 bucks into something that doesnt develop. What i look for is a straight neck and good tuners (so it doesnt go out of tune too much). Surface scratches are ok but if they are deep, be wary. Some say pickups are important but its the amp that really dictates that. Also how big are your hands? If they are small, try a “student” guitar. If you prefer a thin neck, try an ibanez, a bigger one would be epiphone. Dont get caught up by the shape of the body, it generally does nothing for the sound.
The expensive comes in alot of things. The wood on the body and neck such as mahogany is expensive. They even get into rarer forms such as zebrawood and koa. Very tough to find. Some people even put maple caps on top of them. Good pickups average from 50 bucks to 120+. Bridges such as kahlers are worth about 300+, inlay work is very costly to cut and form, generally they are made of abalone or mother of pearl. Quality electronics start at 4-5 dollars for the pots and 10 for the switch. Some people have they’re neck scalloped. That is a labor rated pay as it takes 15-20 minutes per fret. Quality tuners are 70+ such as grovers. Some people prefer longer scales which increases cost as well as custom neck profiles.
Thats just a rough overview. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me.

How much does a electric guitar cost?
i want a guitar that is a good brand and not a guitar that looks like an 8. go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Electric_guitar_parts.jpg

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:
Since I don’t know your budget, style or experience, it’s tough to make a solid recommendation. You’ve got some good ones already. I’ll add this. If you can invest up to a grand, buy an American made Fender telecaster or strat.(I prefer the tele and use it for all styles). These are great axes for most any style, and, when you want to trade up in a year or two (and you will, trust me) you’ll have a much more sell-able or trade-able instrument that an Asian knock-off. You don’t need to spend a lot of money for a decent rig though, but there’s a lot to electric guitars that is not readily seen such as internal electronics that can make a big difference. Same goes for amps. A good entry level Fender will hold it’s value pretty well and be a dependable set up. The bottom line, get one you enjoy playing, regardless of cost. A $250,000 Gibson original issue Les Paul won’t make you a one damn bit better player. You’ll just look cooler screwing up! Good luck & peace

My guitar has this awful ringing sound that stops if I turn the volume of. If I mute the strings, it’s there. If I play, it’s in the background. Is this to do with the pickups and, if it is, how do I fix it?
