Robert asks…

Effects pedal?

What exactly does an effects pedal (for an amp) do? How much does it cost? What brands are the best? would it work with an electric violin?

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:

Theres differant types of effect some go out to huge amounts of money ive owned a fuzz face that distorts the sound like for a heavey guitar metal sound or a wahwah pedal or a flanger hey try this take the violin down to the guitar center and ask about effect some places have a small recording studio as part of their set-up at the store ive had buddies play violin through my amps and effects and we had an echoplex they arent too expensive now

Nancy asks…

What guitar effects pedal should i buy to get the same sound Green Day give when they play American Idiot?

I just want to know what effects pedal to buy to get the same sound green day get when they play american idiot.

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:

I would suggest the boss ds-1 Its the orange one, the other option would be to get a rat distortion box. Both of these pedal will give you the sound you looking for!

William asks…

What kind of an effects pedal duplicates a 12 string?

I want to buy an effects pedal that can duplicate a 12 string, not just an accoustic, but a 12 string. Can anyone tell me what is the best brand out there?

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:

Try using a Chorus effect. If you get one with a stereo output, it almost sounds like two guitars. Boss has several chorus effect pedals and even an enhancer and accoustic pedal. The enhancer and accoustic pedals just gives the electric guitar a brighter and more intone sounding output, but doesn’t quite duplicate a 12 string, even though it says so. Their chorus pedal def duplicates the 12 string sound, but you need to play with it to see how much you want and dep. Try it out at a store and make your own choice.

Sandy asks…

What is the best multi effects pedal for guitar?

I want to get a sound like Slash and I have a budget up to £200. I like the sound of the Boss GT-8 but it’s a little out of my price range. Could somebody tell me a good multi effects pedal in that price range?

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:

Check out the boss me-70 or a boss me-50 second hand, really good effects pedals.

Thomas asks…

What is the best multiple effects pedal for an electrics guitar?

I want one of the pedals but not just one for one effect, a pedal where you can have like 12 different pre-set effects, please help me thank you :)

Guitar Sound Effects Team answers:

The BOSS ME-50 is amazing. I’ve had it for several years, and used in performances, as well as practice. It sounds great, comes with a built-in tuner, and you can hold a ton of presets. Oh, and it’s invincible!
You can buy one here, or you can just check it out in more depth:

When I hook up my boss ps-6 to my one of my distortion pedals the volume drops off about 50%. The level on my distortion is right, is this suppose to happen, how can I fix it.

Review by Fila, May 30, 2011

It is strange and not supposed to happen. Although some harmoniser effects and some other pedals tend take some volume away, it not supposed to drop by 50%. Check your input and output of your PS6. It they are faulty this might happen. If you run your pedals on battery and not on the adapter then a worn out battery will cause this and you need to replace it. Mind that PS6 is a battery eater so buying an adapter is a good investment.

HI Team
I love the sound you get from Roland GP 16 guitar processors, On my 6 string Lowden fitted with a Fishman MatriX Infinity it sounds wonderful with a touch of delay, chorus and compression. I have a 12 stringer fitted with the exact same acoustic pickup system when I use it with the same settings for the 6 stringer the sound seems a bit overdone.
Can you suggest what settings I should use on the Roland to get a nice clean sound for the 12 string, I should think you could start by eliminating the chorus effect

Many thanks

Karlo
